Salvation Is A Work Of God On Our Hearts 3

Psalms 51:10 Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.

Only God can create clean hearts in us.

Luke 6:45 A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh.

A good man is one who has become God’s workmanship. The evil man has not yet become the workmanship of God. The good man has Jesus living and working in and on his heart and the evil man does not. Our hearts are the source of good or evil so they are the first part of us that God works on. Our hearts are also important because they are the part of us that is eternal. Our hearts are the real us that will continue to exist after these bodies die and when we are given new incorruptible bodies.

When I gave my heart to the Lord I was overwhelmed by my feeling of total helplessness and the knowledge that I needed Him to do His work on me. I prayed and asked Him to be my spiritual heart surgeon. I asked Him to do whatever was needed to my heart. I did not know the specifics of what He would do but I knew that whatever His work on my heart was, I trusted Him to do exactly what I needed.

Romans 10:13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

A saved person is a person upon whom God has begun His work. Calling upon the name of the Lord is a prayer. His work in our hearts is spoken of in many other places in the Bible.

To be continued.
